LOST AGAIN

LOST AGAIN
Love is unfair;
Life is unfair.
Why must I always
Bury my head
In shame;
In pain,
Knowing that
I lost again?

When I fall in love
I give it my all.
With high hopes;
Body and soul.
I don’t care;
Richer or poorer.
You love me,
I love you more.

Yet most at times,
I fall in wrong hands.
The one I trust
Calls me a liar.
Thinking I’m cheap;
Calls me a cheat.
I can’t believe,
I lost again.

We stayed together
Under same roof.
Even though
You had no proof.
No engagement,
No commitment
No, not yet;
Not for marriage.

I pretend to be happy
Even though I suffer.
Yet you left me
To be with another
Who is not even
Compared to me, better.
I can’t tell how
I lost again.

I’ve learned my lessons;
I’ll cry no more.
For nothing is fair
In love nor war.
The smiles today,
Tomorrow is no more.
Sweet fruits
Turn bitter and sour.

Life is unfair
Love is unfair.
Why must I always
Bury my head
Deep in shame
Filled with pain
Regretting;
I lost again.
